Lovvorn / Carlisle Reception
11-2-13. "Alabama has a bye week this week so.... Let's get married, right?" That is what many couple say when planning a falling wedding in this state. Nicole and Seth must have done the same. Tonight was another first for me. I have never been to the Hargis Retreat here in Chelsea, even if it is only 2 miles down the same road I live on. I guess there's a first time for everything. I had a great time tonight working with Seth, Nicole and their families. I had actually worked with Nicole before at a rehearsal dinner Game Show I did last year. I even did a couple of special animated slideshows that I played during their special dances to help enhance the moment. You can view those HERE.

Hughey / Boggan Ceremony and Reception
10-27-13. This wedding was very special to me. I have known Kassie and Drew for years. Kassie even use to be a roommate of mine for a couple months. So, of course, when they decided to get married I absolutely had to do it. My wife, Beth and Kassie and best friends and Beth was even her Matron of Honor. The day was wonderful and the weather was great. We partied until we couldn't even see 5 feet in front of our faces, due to it being so dark. It's a good thing I had a kick butt light show to accent the party. Love you guys... Thanks for having me! Also a big thanks to a great guy and even better chef, Danny D'Armond and to Amanda Schnexayder for all help with the coordinating.

Irwin / Polmatier Ceremony and Reception
10-26-13. Every wedding reception doesn't just break out into a wild dance party. Sometimes it's up to me drag the fun out of people. Tonight was one of those nights. Anna and John are a great couple. They only had about 50 guests (mostly older folks) attend and after a bit of "fishing" from me (and their guests drinking) the crowd finally warmed up for a little bit a party time. So, remember when you plan your wedding, if you want to fun party.... Invite fun people. Either way, John and Anne had a great time and were a pleasure to work with.

Marchiony / Hunt Ceremony and Reception
10-19-13. "Do I hear Banjos?" Is what I was thinking while driving down the winding country road in Ragland, AL that led to Walters Farms. Once I arrived on location, I thought this place was a very scenic and beautiful place to have a wedding. Katie and Bryce had their ceremony in front of a beautiful lake and their reception in the adjacent barn. The party went all night. They even kept me overtime because they and their guests were having such a great time. Thanks Bryce and Katie for everything. Also a big thanks to Jessica Messer for the great pics, Alana You for the Video and Classic on Noble for all the great food.

Ragland / Cochran Ceremony and Reception
10-12-13. I love days like this. Although it was my first time out at Douglas Manor it is now one of my favorite place to have a wedding. Not only because of the beautiful location and helpful, friendly staff but, it's only 5 minutes from my house. A nice change of pace from driving all over the State. Also, I really had a great time getting to know Lyndsey and Devin. Devin's mom Jeannene Griesbach is also the event coordinator at the historic Rucker Place where we have worked together several times over the last few years. I guess that's why she made Devin and Lyndsey call Feel The Beat when it came time for the entertainment. Of course we had a wonderful party. Lyndsey and Devin seemed so in love and stayed on the dance floor together all night. Thanks you two. You Rock! Thanks to Jeannene for everything and more thank yous go to Richard Savoie for all the great catering, Jonathan Whitt for the Video and Leigh Ann Shaw of L.A. Photography for all the great pics! Here's the Review Devin & Lyndsey submitted after the wedding
Joe did a great job!! When the crowd would start to dwindle he would somehow always get them back up again! This company is a pure joy to work with. Our DJ Joe is fantastic. He answered any and all questions we had before hand and even made suggestions that I think helped our wedding day run smoother. They are professional without be boring , but they do not try and steal the show. Could not have had a better experience! Joe THANK YOU!!! You made our night fun and definitely one to remember :)

Yance / Petrusson Reception
9-21-13. 32 stories up above the city of Birmingham sits the Summit Club. Tonight I headed up there with my DJ equipment and the Cool Shots Photo Booth for Justin and Mallorie's wedding reception. It was great getting to work with Justin, Mallorie and their families. They have a very fun, loving bunch around them that helped to make this party. Also helping to make this event a memorable one was the awesome vendor team they put together. Rebecca Long did their pictures, Clay Carroll did the video work, Michelle Langdon from the Summit club helped out with the coordinating and they even left in "Caroline", the '56 Jaguar from Coates Classic Cars. Thanks to everyone involved and a Bigger Thank You to Mallorie and Justin for letting me be a part of your special day!

Tillman / Payne Reception
9-14-13. George Washington slept here. Well, maybe not but, they throw one heck of a party in the Barn at the American Village. I have had some very memorable times there and Ryan and Michelle's wedding was one of them. They and there friends and family threw down all night, mainly due to me (I think) or it could have been one of their two "signature drinks". Jack and Coke and Lemon Drop shots. At one point Michelle showed up on the dance with a tray full of shots for everyone. whoa! Good Times. Thanks to Anita Kanellis for all the great help and planning, also another big thank you to Happy Catering for all the Great Food and also to Kelly Cummings for all the Great photos.

Palmore / Fortenberry Reception
8-24-13. In the shadows of the new Region's Field is one of Birmingham's most desired venues, B&A Warehouse. I made my way over there this evening for Dana and Jason's wedding reception. Dana and Jason are a really fun couple. They and their families had a great time tonight as they danced the night away. Another check mark goes into the Win column for me tonight. Thanks to Ann Elizabeth King for all the wonderful pictures and also to B&A for the knock out food.

Boxx / Beachum
8-17-13. After doing 3 Class Reunions the previous 3 weeks, it was great to get back to doing Weddings again. This was the first time I have been to the Virginia Samford Theater and it was quite nostalgic for me. I haven't performed on a Black Box stage since college. Even the way my footsteps sounded on the black painted floor made me feel right at home. Also, I couldn't have asked for a better couple to work with than Cain Anne and Chris. There are two really cool people with great friends and family. These things combined with the Good People Brewing Co. makes for one heck of a party. These folks threw down! This wedding will really go down in my Top 10 favorites. Big thanks to Robbie with Happy Catering, Sarah Peinhardt for the hand coordinating, Kellen Coldiron for the pics and Chris Anderson with Up Down Media for shooting some cool video.

Burgess / Olis Reception
7-20-13. Instead of writing about this event, I would rather share with you the email I received from Kelley the morning after her wedding.
"Joe, After last night, I am certain that you get this a lot. But I wanted to take a minute before I leave on my honeymoon to tell you that I could not imagine last night going any better. You got the crowd involved, you made it special for us, and you kept me informed and calm. I truly do not have the words to thank you enough. A wedding is an event that is remembered for a Lifetime. A dj has the ability to make or break an event. I will remember last night as the best of my life and you played a huge part in that. Thank you again, Kelley Olis" Big thanks to everyone at Vestavia Country Club for all the assistance and another big thank you to Allison Lewis Photography for taking the picture for me aside from just being a pleasure to work with. Follow her link to view more great pictures from Kurt and Kelley's Big Day.

Dichiara / Stone Reception
7-13-13. "This is why we do this, Bubba!" - Translation: I had a great time tonight at Kim and Spencer's Wedding Reception at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Pelham. Not only did I get to DJ a kick-butt wedding reception but, I got to enhance it with our Feel The Beat Lighting Design. The mood was perfect, the guests were ready to party and the Bride and Groom had an awesome time. In fact, I have never had a bad time doing an Italian Wedding before. That goes the same for Catholic Weddings. So... when you put the two together, you better get ready to have a good time because anything else is unacceptable. Kim, Spencer and their friends and family had the dance floor packed from the first song. Also when it came time for the Tarantella, Kim's father Don and his brother's sang the Lazy Mary to get everyone going. What a great night.

Church / Bryant Reception
7-6-13. Today it rained, rained and rained some more. Soooo.... That meant it was the perfect day for an outdoor wedding at the 4-H Center. j/k. Anyway, you can "plan a pretty picnic but, you can't predict the weather" (Andre 3000). It was a shame too because, all of Catherine and Hunter's guests wanted to stay dry instead of dancing on my wet dance floor. Ce la vie. At least the catering by Jim & Nick's BBQ stayed dry. It was however, really nice to get to work with on of my favorite photographers, Amber Ford again. Also, it is always a pleasure to see and work with my favorite Wedding Planner in the entire state of Alabama, the wonderful and very talented Rachael Grammer of Two Hearts Weddings.

Lungu / Ghosh Reception
6-29-13. What a great party we had tonight. I had no idea how this half Indian, half Romanian wedding was going to go but, once the party got started it stayed going all night. Oana and Rudy had an awesome group of friends that were there to celebrate the joining of these two, hard. Of course, that's what I expect from my UNC crew. By the end of the night everyone in the Museum at Vulcan Park was dripping sweat. I even got a standing ovation when it was all said and done. What a great night! afterwards I even got to take my beautiful wife, Beth to the Second Chance Prom, DJ'd by our own Danny Brewer at Workplay where all the procedes went to benefit Ace & TJ's Grin Kids.

Kizer / McDonald Reception
6-22-13. Meredith and Drew got Married to day at Micah's Meadow in Springville, AL today. Afterwards everyone headed across the street to join me for their reception in Grace Hall at Mathew's Manor. Not only did they get me for their party but, they also had me to do their lighting design (which I did in Meredith's chosen shade of pink then, later I changed to fit the mood of the party) and they got the Cool Shot's Photo Booth as well. This created a lot of excitement and entertainment for their guests which, in turn helped to create wonderful memories for each of their 250+ guests. The food supplied by Mathew's Manor was excellent as always, the photo booth stayed packed along with my dance floor and there we tons of great moments to capture by ace photographer David Boyd and the videographers from Mainstreet Productions. I wish I could do this fun of a wedding every Saturday. Big thanks to Meredith and Drew for choosing me to be a part of their big day and another BIG, BIG thanks to Meredith's father Russell for everything!

Bullard / Scott Ceremony & Reception
6-15-13. I got to see one of the coolest venues for a ceremony today. Audrey and Matthew got married at The Church of the Living Waters in Stillwater, AL. It was at an outdoor pavilion that over looked the water, making it a very unique and scenic location for any ceremony. After the ceremony everyone had to make a quick 15 minute drive to Gingko Manor in Dadeville, AL. The hot, humid June Alabama weather really held up the reception a bit but, as soon as the sun went down the party got started. It was a good thing Audrey and Matthew arranged to have the Cool Shots Photo Booth at their reception. It stayed busy all night supplying their guest with a wonderful entertainment option. Not to mention the awesome looking Scrapbook they got to take with them. Congrats to Audrey and Matthew and special thanks to Keith Little for the great food and another big thanks to Amanda & Jordan Greer for all the great pictures.

Campbell / Cooney Reception
6-9-13. Today was a great day. The Braves beat the Dodgers 8-1, the Miami Heat won game 2 of the NBA finals vs. the Spurs and I got to DJ Candace and John's wedding reception at the American Village. John and Candace were not your typical couple. John is a Aerospace Engineer who is finishing up his PhD from Notre Dame. Candace graduated Law School from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The were the perfect blend of fun, sweet, enthusiastic and dorky. I had no idea how this party was going to go. You would never expect an early Sunday afternoon reception with no alcohol to be very Jumpin'. Well.... this party was the exception to the rule. John and Candace really kept the party going. They stayed out on the floor and were the life of the party. On a side note, their guests were ready to get out on the dance floor as before they were introduced. I was really glad to be a part of their special day. Thanks to Pete, Jeremy, Fish and everyone at the American Village. Also a big thanks to the great staff from Jim & Nick's for the wonderful food and service.

Wheeler / Bratt Reception
6-7-13. Tonight I headed on over to Aldridge Botanical Gardens for Sam and Brittany's Wedding Reception. It rained earlier in the day so, I was unsure of how this party would be. Fortunately, the sky cleared up and the ground dried out so... "Party On Wayne!" I know I say this a lot but, Sam and Brittany are an awesome couple. It is apparent that these two kids are definitely in love with each other. They didn't even need any guests because they were so happy to just be with each other. The did however, have plenty of guests that were there to definitely celebrate the union of these two and throw down.
Brittany, Sam and there guests danced all night. This was definitely one jumping wedding. All the right ingredients were there. Good food from Full Moon BBQ, Good Brews, Great Friends and ME, of course. j/k

Blaylock / West Reception
5-25-13. Today I loaded up the Cool Shots Photo Booth in addition to my usual equipment and headed south to Auburn for Brendon and Meredith's wedding reception. They had the outside patio area of Moore's Mill Club reserved for the occasion. It was very spacious, beautiful and had a very scenic view of the golf course.
I had done Meredith's sister's (Anna) wedding back in January of '09. It was wedding I'll never forget. It was at Pine Tree Country Club during the NFC Championship when my Carolina Panthers were defeated by the Arizona Cardinals to go to the Superbowl. But I digress.
Meredith and Brendon have an awesome group of family and friends. They were all very receptive and ready to get the party started. Once we opened up the dance floor it stayed packed all night. Also, the guests got to leave with a customized wedding favor from the Photo Booth. Now isn't that what memories are made of? Congrats to Meredith and Brendon. Have fun in Hawaii and enjoy your new lives in Baton Rouge. Also, I would like to thank Robbie and Holly for all they're hard work with the Photo Booth.

Goff / Russ Ceremony & Reception
5-24-13. Deja Vu. It feels like I was just here... No, wait. I was. And I love being here at The Sonnet House. Corey, Jarred and Candice are great to work with every time. I've been doing wedding here for over 5 years now and they're level of professionalism is second to none other. They always go above and beyond to take care of their clients and the property seems to get a little more beautiful each time I'm here.
Anyway, tonight was Tami and Nate's Wedding. I handled the ceremony and a little bit of music for the reception. The ceremony went flawlessly. In the past they have a few problems with microphones cutting in and out while the officiant is conducting the ceremony. We have asked around and it is not just us. I've talked to other companies and other vendors and they are having the same problem. We've seemed to have tried everything (i.e. moving setup location, trying different frequency microphones, etc.) to correct this problem with only a few improvements here and there. But I now think I have found the solution and I'm now 2 for 2 in 5 days time at Micing a perfect Ceremony. Go Feel The Beat! Oh. I'm not gonna tell my secret. Let's just say I'd rather be lucky than good.
Congrats Tami and Nate. Thanks you for having me and enjoy your honeymoon in the Florida keys.

Heiman / Tatum Ceremony and Reception
5-19-13. Tonight I made my way over to the Sonnet House for Lauren and Erik's Ceremony & Reception. After all of the rain we had this weekend everyone seemed to be a bit nervous... everyone but me. The dark clouds came in and rolled right on out, making for a beautiful day to have a wedding. I was in charge of the ceremony and reception today and both went flawlessly. Lauren and Erik are an awesome couple and I know they had as much fun as I did today. They and their families danced all evening right up until it was time for them to leave in 1959 Rolls Royce named "Elizabeth" from Coates Classic Cars. Congrats Erik and Lauren! Special thanks to Brendon Pinola of Photo 205 , Candace at the Sonnet House and Imperial Catering for all the great food.

Byars / Franklin Reception
5-18-13. Tonight I headed out to Old Car Heaven for Danielle and Brent's Wedding Reception. I did 15 LED Washes on the Drapery from Randall at Robert's Rentals in Hot Pink and 10 Wireless LED Up-lights on the drapery wrapped around the columns.
It's always a great time at Old Car Heaven. The giant room is filled with, you guessed it, tons and tons of old cars. Danielle and Brent even got to make their entrance to the reception in a classic convertible Rolls Royce that dropped them of directly on the dance floor. Now that's how you make an entrance. Danielle and her guests danced all night until she and her new husband Brent made their Grand Exit in a 1959 Jaguar named "Caroline" from Coates Classic Cars.
Special Thanks to Lorraine at Old Car Heaven and to Wayne Morris of Wayne Morris Video for taking the picture for me.

Rosiewski / Drake Reception
5-12-13. Today was Mother's Day. First I want to say I love my mother deeply and I wish I could have been with her today. Fortunately, she was in Virginia visiting with my other brothers and her grand and great grand children. Love you mama!
Secondly, I got to help a great couple make some wonderful memories for themselves and their guests. Sara, Nick and Sara's mother Kathleen threw this wedding together in just a couple of months and with Great Success. The Pavilion at Aldridge Gardens looked beautiful. I lit up all of the columns with 14 of our Wireless LED Up-lights. I also did a couple of pinspots for their cake table.
Being it was Mother's Day, I wasn't sure how this party would go. Their family and friends were great. They stayed most of the night and danced and got involved in various ways. I helped Kathleen setup a surprise bubble bombardment during Sara and Nick's First Dance. It made for a pretty cool and very visual experience. Congrats to Sara and Nick and a big thank you to Kathleen for having me and also to Judy at Aldridge Gardens.

5-11-13. I have been anticipating this wedding for a while now. Tiffany booked me over a year ago, and when I first met with her and Zack I could tell they were going to be a lot of fun. The wedding wonderful and the party was even better. Their people gave them one of the highest energy intros I have ever been a part of. Everyone was ready to go right from the start. I even had folks dancing to my cocktail hour music. Yea. This night was definitely fun and memorable for all.Special thanks to Ashley and Stephanie from Mathew's Manor and Charles and Amber Ford for all the great pictures! 3-4-13. Tonight was Rachael and Nick's wedding at THE Club. I was there not only to provide the entertainment but, I also did a lot of lighting and a sweetheart logo as well. This was my fourth Arabic wedding and probably my favorite of the bunch. Everyone had a great time dancing and celebrating the night away. Nick and Rachael are a great couple. They're really down to earth, easy going, and hilarious. I was really glad I got to do this one. Thanks to all for such a great night.

Pelham High School Prom 2013
4-27-13. Today I was back at the Wynfrey for Pelham High School's Prom. This is another Event I have done for the past 4 years and again I look forward to it every time. This also marked the End of Prom season for me so I definitely wanted to end on a high note. This was another great show for a great group of kids. This years theme was "Footloose" and the place was totally decked out with great decor reminiscent of the 1980's Kevin Bacon classic. The kids danced hard all night. Really, It got very "Hot in Herre". A big thanks to Jennifer and Heather from Pelham High School who always rebook me for the next year the day after the Prom is over. I'm really flattered. Also a big thanks to Danny Brewer for shooting some video for me as well.

Stanhope-Elmore H.S. Prom 2013
4-20-13. Today Robby and I traveled south to Jasmine Gardens in Wetumpka for Stanhope Elmore's Prom. This is the 4th Year in a row I have done this gig and I look forward to it every time. There is always a great group of kids that are ready to throw down. This year I added a little extra kick and brought along our new dual 18" subs. I also used our Wireless Uplights to encompass the room and a light show that would make phish fans proud. Check out the video for a little sample of the energy in the room.

The Hart / Roberta Reception
4-13-13. Today I got to work with an awesome couple. Joe and Adrienne are not just only two of the nicest people you have ever met but, they are also big time philanthropists. It was a real honor to get to know and work with these two. I washed the walls in lavender to accent her colors and did a sweetheart logo as well that was a real nice accent to the decor. The guests had so much fun that we could have gone another hour but, the alarm system at Peace of Prince automatically goes on at a certain time and we didn't need the cops called. Anyway, another great time had by all.

Phillips / Lamb Reception
4-6-13. Today was Kayla & Bradley's wedding. I was there to do the Ceremony and Reception. The ceremony was at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Pell City and the Reception was at Celebrations in South Cropwell (5 mins away). Of course, the ceremony went off without a hitch ( I don't count the flower girl not making it down the aisle). The reception was decorated beautifully. Debra at Celebrations has really done a lot to upgrade this place. She has installed new drapery that really gives the room a more elegant feel. I did the lighting so, I lit those drapes up with Kayla's chosen shade of pink. All in all, the room was beautiful, the guests had a good time and danced, and Kayla got the pictures she wanted ( taken by Candace and Brook from CB Photo & Design). Congrats Kayla & Bradley!

Lloyd / Bradberry Reception
3-16-13. Today was Erica and Ryan's Wedding Reception @ Greystone Country Club. I was there to provide a little entertainment and some lighting. Erica and Ryan are an awesome couple. They have been guests at other weddings I have been fortunate enough to entertain at and, when it came time for their big day, they left the good times up to yours truely. Erica and Ryan have a great group of people around them. They had fun until the last note of the last song. Another A+ wedding in the books. Special thanks to Teresa Lloyd, Rachel (Erica's Mom and Sister) and Lyndsey Cunningham (Photographer) for the wonderful pictures.

Godwin / Skelton Reception
2-9-13. Tonight I made my way to Tuscaloosa for Cassie and Stephan's wedding reception at the Hotel Capstone. This wedding was booked in a whirl. After cassie and Stephan got engaged they found out she was pregnant. Therefore they moved the wedding up to tonight. They even did a big reveal of the baby's gender at the reception. Nobody, including Cassie and Stephan had any idea of what the baby was going to be... except me. They wanted it to be a surprise for everyone so the results were handed to me personally earlier in the evening. I needed to know because I had to program a cool lighting effect based around the gender of the baby. I also had to share my findings with Melissa at the hotel who was to fill a box with either blue or pink balloons, which the bride and groom would open together. It was a great effect for the reveal with a giant ??? box and lights flashing pink and blue. When the box was opened, pink balloons flew out, the lighting in the room turned pink and I played "Thank Heavens for Little Girls". Ha. Good times. The pic above is of me playing the Shoelywed Game with them. Thanks to Megan Forehand Photography for the Pic.
